Richard set up Bugs and Beasties in 2008 and since then has worked extensively across the UK and beyond. Setting up Bugs and Beasties meant that Richard could focus on his real passions. This passion shines through with his inspirational speaking. His understanding of our natural world and the symbiotic relationships in nature have meant that he is able to create the most wonderful habitats over any sized landscape. Bugs and beasties has been instrumental in setting up scores of wildlife gardens and outdoor learning resources throughout the country from a Nursery school garden in Lurgan, Northern Ireland to the smallest back garden in Eastham, London. Having worked with Award winning gardening companies before setting up Bugs and beasties Richard’s depth of expertise and garden design skills are unsurpassed. Bugs and beasties prides itself on sourcing resilient renewable materials, coppiced hazel, willow and sweet chestnut are all favourites in the creation of outdoor space built for Nature play and learning. Richard also finds himself working from time to time with Herefordshire wildlife trust supporting a cohort of volunteers to restore Hereford city’s wildlife corridors and waterways. Richard lives in a rural paradise on the edge of the Woolhope dome in Herefordshire and has aspired to ensuring that glowworms, great crested newts and barn owls thrive amongst the rich flora and fauna of his families smallholding.
